Folsom is a vibrant city built on the strong values of family, community, service, and generosity. However, like many communities, there are families facing unique challenges. Some parents are navigating difficult circumstances, and their children can feel the weight of these struggles.

When a child experiences instability, it can make everyday activities—like schoolwork, learning, recreation, and self-care—more challenging. Yet, with the right support, these children can thrive, overcoming barriers and unlocking their full potential.

By intervening early and providing nurturing, positive experiences, we can help reshape a child’s story. Folsom’s Hope is doing just that: mentoring, tutoring, supporting, encouraging and nurturing students—elementary, middle and high school—right here in our own city.

Instead of seeing themselves as defined by their challenges, they can embrace their strengths and abilities, breaking the cycle and building a brighter future.

Salwa Kasabian

Executive Director

Folsom’s Hope was founded in 2008 by Salwa Kasabian, a mother of three who saw the need firsthand—and felt God’s call to respond—when her children were placed at Theodore Judah Elementary, located in one of the city’s lowest-income neighborhoods. Salwa’s story is profiled here in Style Magazine.
